"Plynie" by Marina Fridman

This piece, for string quartet and electronics, sounds like it belongs in the next Resident Evil video game (which would be Resident Evil 7) - maybe the game developers should take notice of Marina Fridman, because she's destined for great things.

What is the origin of the title, "Plynie?" Does it have relevance to the inspiration of the piece?

"Plynie" is a Polish word meaning "Streams". Musical material has been the impetus for the title of a work.

Ah, so the inspiration was streams, running water?

Here are some my thoughts about piece: Streams... people as a stream running, changing, emulous life, which is in search of the road surrounded by people who depend on them, intertwining them... but lonely, clinging to the time allotted to him.

These six months I spent in Poland, I spent in the laboratory of electronic music at the Krakow Academy of Music. I really wanted to write a piece for electronics and stringed instruments. Desire is my inspiration.

What a fantastic concept - it's reflected very well in the music! One final question: who would you say your biggest influences are?

My favorite composers are Debussy, Maurice Ravel, GĂ©rard Grisey, Alla Zagaykevych, and others.
