What I'm listening to this week (AKA always): the official Life is Strange official soundtrack

"I'm going to get better about writing on my music blog again!" Hahahaha good luck, fool.

Official Life is Strange soundtrack: What I'm listening to at Musicall Notable

In January 2016 (a few months ago), Life is Strange released a physical disc version of the game with bonus director's commentary and the official soundtrack. Even though I already owned the game on Steam and had been listening to the Life is Strange official soundtrack since last summer, I bought it. That's the level of fangirl that I am.

This game ruined my life even more than The Last of Us. Aside from the stunningly gorgeous gameplay (that I could waffle on about for hours), the heartwrenchingly beautiful storyline (sobbing in the corner), or the choice based "choose your own adventure" world, the music is to die for.

The Life is Strange official soundtrack has 22 tracks, ranging from delicious soundscapes to instant indie classics. A few of my faves....

"Obstacles" by Syd Matters

This song is instant nostalgia, from the repeated guitar arpeggios to the lyrics about playing hide and seek in waterfalls. It's the reason I recently started learning guitar, and I could (and have) listened to it on repeat for hours.

"In my Mind" by Amanda Palmer

I'm not usually a big Amanda Palmer fan (sorry), but this song is literally me. 5 years from now, I will be rich, famous, successful, and have all of my shit together. My closet will be organized and I won't forget about the vegetables in the crisper drawer.

"Crosses" by Jose Gonzalez

More guitar gorgeousness. Arpeggios FOR DAYS.

"Mountains" by Message to Bears

Want to talk about amazing ambient soundscapes? Let's talk about that. This whole game is full of ambient soundscapeyness, and this is just one example of a track list that works so well together, it's hard to believe they are by different artists.

"Santa Monica Dream" by Angus and Julia Stone

A chipper, backyard feel good song with heart-wrenching, soul-sucking lyrics. Goodbye dreams, I hardly knew ye.

If you haven't played this amazing game (which won "best story" and the BAFTAGames last week), click here to score yourself a limited edition version of the game, which includes the game, official soundtrack (14 licensed songs and 8 original tracks), a book of exclusive concept art, and director's commentary. Or if you're a superfan like me, you can buy the limited edition version even if you already own a digital copy on Steam.

Happy listening and gaming, friends!
